ALS Ice Bucket Challenge
Friday, August 28, 2015 - 2:20 - 2:45
Mrs. Dietrich and the teachers have planned to hold an Ice Bucket Challenge (just teachers getting wet) on Friday from 2:20 until about 2:45. The students will get to come out and watch on the playground.
The day of the Ice Bucket Challenge, the staff is inviting the students to wear hats for a donation which will go toward the Mark Nardone Benefit Fund. Mark is a teacher and coach at WPHS who was recently diagnosed with ALS.
We would love it if you would send in your Summer Stuff Envelopes as soon as possible! As a reminder, here are all the fun things we collect:

The Kindergarten classes are always looking for glue sticks! They can never have enough of them. While they are on sale, please consider buying some extra and sending them in?
Mrs. Kuhns and Mrs. Schmitt would LOVE it!
Sunny D is offering a great program right now where they will send a teacher 20 books if we send them 20 Sunny D Labels. Would it not be awesome to get all of our classroom teachers 20 books? If every child brought in one label - we have it made! This program is only good through November 30, 2015.
All bottles 6.75 oz larger are eligible. All individual cans are ineligible.
Please send the labels with the UPC in tact with your child just as you would your Box Top Sheets, Our Family Labels, School Rewards of any type... :-)
Happy First Day Back to School!
Our students looked amazing walking the red carpet this morning. They looked like true superstars holding their head up high and ready to begin the year. We look forward to a busy year ahead with many of our same events and perhaps some new volunteering opportunities.
As for volunteering, information was sent home today in your child's folder to become an Ohio County School approved volunteer. In order to volunteer at Steenrod for lunch, classroom events, or PTA events, you must be an OCS approved volunteer. Please submit this form by August 19, 2015 so that it can be approved by the school board and you can begin to volunteer for these events as early as August 24, 2015. Otherwise, you will need to wait until the next OCS Board Meeting to have your form approved. Please note that when volunteering, you must sign in at the office and wear a Volunteer Badge.
Thank you again for your support in making the first day of school a success. We look forward to a fun, productive, and memorable school year.
P.S. If you need an additional form, click here.
P.S.S. If you have students in multiple schools, you must sent a volunteer application to each school.
The Breakfast and Lunch Menus for August 2015 have been added to the handouts tab!
